Do you know you're unlike any other?
You'll always be my thunder, and I said
Your eyes are the brightest of all the colors
I don't wanna ever love another
You'll always be my thunder
So bring on the rain
And bring on the thunder
-Thunder, Boys like Girls
Irony: I love this song, but am terrified of thunderstorms. And this is relevant because it's currently thunderstorming, like it does almost every night for the first half of the summer here. I've lived in NC all of my life and still can't get used to it. Maybe it's because I was almost struck by lightning one year... oh well... I'm working on it.
Anyways, after the first two days home, when almost all of my best friends visited me, it's been pretty boring. The reasons the visits had to happen so soon was 1. i hadn't seen some of them in 5 months, 2. some of them are leaving me for most of the summer to go adventure abroad and 3. it's kinda boring here without friends. And of course I miss all of them at all times. And then comes the sleepover... it starts at my best friend's house, where we bake pizza and eat dinner, and then comes over to my house where we chill and watch Glee and just talk. Or not even talk the whole time. It's just nice to be with this girl, cause we kinda spent all of junior and senior year together.
So for the next two days, I just kinda chilled. For the first time since... well winter break. I went to tae kwon do, went shopping, and generally just did what I wanted. That's when the internet was cooperating... it's been on and off since I got home, and generally off when I want it on.
And then tonight happened. I picked up my sister and her friends from a coffeehouse thing at their school (and my old high school) and took them to Steak & Shake. Everything was good until our waiter gave us our milkshakes and my sister said "I'm so excited for this!" and he replied, "I wish I was..." and we lost it. Couldn't. Stop. Laughing. Then a cop sat down at the table next to us, gun in full view. So we freaked out. After we got over the huge gun across the aisle from us, we were just goofing off and having fun, after all it's just a Steak & Shake. They don't judge. Then my sister tried to shake off her straw from the glass of water it was in, and it went all over me. So we both broke down laughing. Right as the waiter came by. Well he just gave us a look and walked away. Then the manager came over and stood there. Didn't say anything, didn't move, just stood there. That set us off even more! So when he starts walking away, I say something to my sister, and he turns around and answers me. More hysterical laughter. No big deal, it happens a lot when the two of us are together.
So that's my life so far this summer... hopefully these thunderstorms will be gone by tomorrow and my internet will decide to keep working (doubtful).
So my summer doesn't seem to be too interesting...
But then again, you never know! Brief outline: realax, take a chem class (eek), relax, Charleston for 4th of July, relax, Alaskan cruise, pack up and head back to school. All that relaxing is also going to involve job searching... I promise.
The title of my blog is from the Aerosmith song, and the idea behind it is that it's hard to keep up with friends over the summer, and even harder when they live across oceans (rawr international kids <3). So this is a way for you to keep up with my life, and maybe you'll take a page from my book (blog?) and start one yourself!
