So my summer doesn't seem to be too interesting...

But then again, you never know! Brief outline: realax, take a chem class (eek), relax, Charleston for 4th of July, relax, Alaskan cruise, pack up and head back to school. All that relaxing is also going to involve job searching... I promise.

The title of my blog is from the Aerosmith song, and the idea behind it is that it's hard to keep up with friends over the summer, and even harder when they live across oceans (rawr international kids <3). So this is a way for you to keep up with my life, and maybe you'll take a page from my book (blog?) and start one yourself!

Hush little baby don't say a word...

And never mind that noise you heard
It's just the beast under your bed
In your closet in your head

Exit light
Enter night
Grain of sand

Exit light
Enter night
Take my hand
We're off to never never-land

                                                -Enter Sandman, Metallica

Um... yea, about the song... The house I was house sitting in was super creepy. Like blasting hard rock constantly to keep my mind occupied creepy.

Wow... it's been a long time since I've posted. Probably because nothing interesting has happened to me... Until the past few days. List time!

1. I was house sitting all last weekend.  In a creepy house with tons of statues, paintings and creepiness. It was so totally worth it. Plus I got to sleep on a waterbed so I'm happy. And my sister spent the night with me one night, which made it less creepy.
2. I hung out with friends from middle school in the pool, and we had a movie night this week too. It was great to find out that we're still great friends. Like we would've never hung out all together if we just knew each other from high school, but because we've known each other forever it's pretty awesome. We lost a few girls along the way, but I'm so happy the four of us are so close.
3. I finished my class (and got my credit with little to no effort on my part)! Yay being done with math and science forever!
4. My bed broke... not like that you pervs! I was sitting on it, and BAM it broke... Don't ask me... but my dad's fixing it so it's all good.
5. I baked a chocolate cake for my grandma's birthday dinner last night. But she was sick and couldn't go to her surprise party... the cake was still good! It's pretty much pure chocolate... so obviously it's delicious.
6. I went to the doctor about my knee today. I need surgery (July 14 if anyone's wondering...). Yea not too happy about that, but at least it should be better soon.
7. I made my class schedule for next year so much better than it was before. Cause I'm cool like that.
8. We shipped my sister off to Anytown, a week-long summer camp for high schoolers about diversity and all that good stuff. I thought she was gonna chase the car to make us take her home with us, but she got on the bus and headed off for a week of fun in the mountains... we'll see how she liked it when she gets back.
8. ALL OF MY FRIENDS LEFT ME!!! For far off places like Spain, London, France, Israel, and the list goes on. At least I can rub Alaska in their faces eventually...

Other than that it's been pool time, relaxing, cooking... Pretty much a perfect summer!

Turn off your mind, relax...

And float down stream
It is not dying
It is not dying

Lay down all thought
Surrender to the void
It is shining
It is shining

                   -Tomorrow Never Knows, The Beatles

1. I wish I could turn off my mind... I've been thinking way too much lately. 2. I love The Beatles, and the covers I heard at the concert I went to weren't half bad. 3.

Like I promised, an update on my knee. I had to get a cortisone shot. I think I cut off the circulation in my dad's hand during that thing... I HATE shots. So then I couldn't feel my knee for a while (half the injection is numbing stuff) and when I could, it HURT. So I kept ice on it on and off until I had to leave to eat with my friends before the Jonas Sees in Color concert downtown in the park. I met some of my friends' friends from Chapel Hill, and one of them loves sweet tea almost as much as I do =] We played cornhole before we left, I got called a sorostitute and a ginger all night, and it was so much fun! And then the concert was pretty awesome, even though their new music is kinda depressing... and I had to stand the whole time... but then we ran into a friend from high school who's at American (came up with the idea of visiting DC this summer together) and then got cheesecake!

So that was a fun night, but then the next day I was back at the same friend's house as before for a pool party!!! Summer officially began with a pool party and cook out. It was great to just hang out with people I hadn't seen since graduation, and I magically didn't get sunburned! I'd call this weekend a success. But wait... there's more! There was a party going on down the street at another friend's house that we ended up going to, but considering my half hour drive home I just sipped on soda and hung out with people I'd known all my life. Such a great night...

Basically. This weekend counts as the start of summer for me. Real summer, with pool, parties, friends, food, and everything else summer has to offer (minus sunburn...). It reminds me of when I was younger and the best summer day I could imagine was waking up early, going to the pool for the day and getting ice cream. Now everything's just pushed back a few hours and I can drive myself around!

Yall come back now ya hear!

PS- yea my knee's still angry with me. but hopefully it'll start getting better soon?

We're going at it tonight tonight...

There's a party on the rooftop top of the world
Tonight tonight and were dancing on the edge of the Hollywood sign
I don't know if I'll make it but watch how good I'll fake it
Its all right, all right, tonight, tonight

                                                         -Tonight, Hot Chelle Rae

1. This song makes me happy. 2. That's really the only reason it's the title... I'm neither in Hollywood nor on a rooftop. BUT... there's going to be partying this weekend.

This week's been pretty fun... make that ridiculously fun. Every Memorial Day weekend for the past 5 years, I went camping with my friend's family, and went canoeing too. It was the highlight of my end-of-the-school-year. But this year her brother's in Argentina *sojealous* so her parents said no trip, and of course we couldn't go alone because who would let two girls go camping on their own... not her parents. So we decided to camp out in her back yard Sunday night... well more like in her garage... on mattresses... but with a campfire outside. And smores of course! Then Monday, we went out to my house to play in the pool! And tan. Or lack-of-tan/avoid-sunburn for me and my already sunburned friend. Then my daddy took me to see Thor (it was amazing, but there wasn't enough of the love story to make it make sense...) and then I crashed...

Tuesday was lab and class, Wednesday was lab and a test, and today was, you guessed it, lab and class. But Tuesday and Wednesday I hung out at my friend's house, where there's a pool. Sadly, we got lazy on Tuesday and just watched Law and Order: SVU (lovelovelove). Then after class, I went over to my old school (like preK-8th grade school) for my preK teacher's retirement party. Wednesday my friend with a pool had some other friends over that I hadn't seen in forever and we actually used the pool. Today I went over to another friend's house and cut up her shirt for her because I'm craftsy like that. Since I actually finished it while she was wearing it, she just wore it to go pick up her brother from school!

And coming up tomorrow is a concert, and then Saturday is another pool party. Oh summer... the time to party. It's gonna be a good weekend... I can't wait to tell you about it!

On another note, I'm considering joining the Navy. Now for those that know me well, I PROMISE I WON'T BREAK!!! For those who don't, I get hurt a lot. After I graduate college, I'd go into Officer Candidate School and have a 12-week (instead of 10-week) training time, then start classes for what I want to specialize in. My dad's talking to his military-ish friend about it to see if it's worth it... so we'll see. Any opinions? Leave a comment or let me know =]

Yall come back now ya hear!

PS: I'm going to the doctor about my knee tomorrow... kinda freaked out. I'll let you know how it goes.
